KABOOM!!

Ever just had one of those days that everything seemed to blow up.... yeah thats pretty much today. I had a lovely exam this morning for my Bus MHR 701 class, which didn't go so well. Then when I get to workwe had a major over voltage which took out the 5th floor of Baker Systesm. We had melted power strips, smoking monitors, and blown CPU's. Always a good way to start the day. Plus it sounds like we will be lucky to have everything working normal before the weekend.

No pleasure no rapture, no exquisite pleasure is greater than central air.

I can say that now that our AC is finally fixed (and that I'm at work, where its nice and cool). I had the pleasure of waiting for the repairman to show up this morning. The supervisor called at 7:30am, said they would be there at 8:30am, and then arrived shortly after 9:00am. But I guess that isn't too bad in "repair man time."

POTL

Basically means its hot as balls! Our A/C mysteriously seemed to die sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning. And of course the landlord won't do anything about it until at least monday morning. So we get to sweat it out until then. I simply don't see how people can manage withought A/C anymore, because I couldn't take a full summer of this. Oh well, I'm off to stick my head in the freezer.

::YAWN::

Its one of those Saturdays where morning doesn't really start until noon. Nice to have everynow and then, but it just seems waste a good portion of the day. Went to the Varsity Club last night for a few dirnks with friends. Today is Jeremy's 21st birthday finally. So we took him out at midnight so he could celebrate. Also need to say Happy Birthday to Fred as his birthday was yesterday and he is now 25 even if he won't admit it.

"Good job fit" costs a lot for OSU

With an open position for OSU president, someone must have really wanted Karen Holbrook to take the job. Check out the deal the offered her. To bad they can't afford to take care of the students or other staff at the university.

Term: Five years, beginning Oct. 1. The trustees may terminate services immediately for cause, such as a criminal or immoral act, or without cause by giving 90 days' written notice.

Pay: $325,000 a year, plus annual increases and performance bonuses of one-fourth of her base salary for exemplary performance and meeting mutually determined goals.

Deferred compensation: $100,000 annually: $50,000 to a 457(b) plan and $50,000 to a 457(f) plan. She will receive proceeds from the 457(f) plan only if she completes five years as president.

Residence: Private living quarters in Pizzuti House, 80 N. Drexel Ave., plus a full-time housekeeper and necessary staff. Furniture and furnishings will be provided if desired.

Automobiles: Two full- or mid-size, plus a driver upon request.

Expenses: Moving expenses, including trips to complete business or personal affairs. Reimbursement for travel, business and entertainment, including for her husband when traveling on university business, and dues and expenses for membership in professional and business clubs and associations related to the function of president.

Job security: Tenure as a full professor, which she can continue after ending her service with the university. At that time, she would receive salary and benefits at the level of the highest-paid professor in her department.

The full story can be found in the Dispatch newspaper.

Do you have a little clone in you.... ?

... would you like one?

One of the redeeming lines from the new Austin Powers Goldmember movie. We just got back from seeing an "advanced screening" of the movie, and the creators have managed to successfully finish off this movie series with a flop. I think many people will see the movie after enjoying the second one, and will most likely be disappointed. (Unless you really don’t like movies with plots that is) Verne Troyer was the funniest and most redeming part of the movie playing both mini-me and mini-austin. I mean don’t get me wrong, I never thought the other two movies were marvels of modern movie making, but once again the sequel falls short. They simply ran out of ideas and tried to push what they had too far. I did find the movie amusing and laughed through a good portion of it. But the ending just got corny and simply left a bad taste in my mouth. I would recommend saving your money and seeing this movie at the dollar theater unless you are truly a die hard fan.

All and all, I give it a B-.

Joe's Crab Shack

So after hearing many people's stories, I finally made it to Joe's Crab Shack last night. I went with a group of friends to the one by Easton Mall. I thought it was actually quite tasty and not too expensive. I had the snow crab dinner and 2 beers which only cost $15. Not a bad deal, if I may say so. I recommend checking the restaurant out if you have never been there.

Blog away...

I have officially joined the overpopulated and probably under appreciated blogger pool. All in an effort to add my miniscule part to the world... or to simply give me something to do. Until I get my page layout settled, I'll just have to use one of their standard templates.
