Are you ready for football?
It is hard to believe it, but its college football time already. I’m so pumped up for this season. I think Ohio State could do well this year. I just got back from working today’s game against Texas Tech. Man did we blow them away (45-21). Hopefully this is an indication for how the rest of the season will go, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Write that down
I realize that I had been severely deprived up until tonight, since I hadn’t seen National Lampoon’s Van Wilder. This movie was truly great. I haven’t laughed so hard in an extremely long time. I bought the movie today from Best Buy on friend’s recommendations, and definitely didn’t regret it. I give the movie 4.5 out of 5 starts. The minor point reduction is due to 2 very gross scenes (if you’ve seen the movie, you know what I’m talking about). This is a definite pick-me-up movie that’s on my must see list.
Don't take life too seriously; you might not make it out alive.

Sobering weekend
I went home for the weekend to visit with some friends and go to Randy and Amanda’s wedding (I went to high school with them both). It is weird to think that a lot of my friends are at this stage in their life already (being engaged, getting married, buying their own houses, etc.) and I still have 2 years of college. Plus I talked with friends about high school and what everyone is up to now. All and all, this leads to a rather depressing weekend. Then to top it off, my ex-girlfriend sends me a message basically asking about us getting back together, which I don’t think I can do. Life is good at kicking you while your down.

beer = good?
Doctors are now saying that beer is good for you (in moderation of course), and in fact can be better than wine or spirits. I’m not sure how much I will buy into this because everyday it seems to change what is good for you and what isn’t… but until they figure it out, I’ll raise my glass. Cheers!

Slacker
I know that I have been slacking on my posts recently, but there really hasn’t been much going on. It has been a pretty uneventful week. I didn’t have class this week because my teacher is out of town, so that’s a nice break. Not much has been going on at work recently either. I just haven’t had the time or energy to find anything cool online. And no one can even read this post for a while because the people who we are doing web hosting through are upgrading and moving their servers. I think they are done now, but it will take another day for everything to flush through the system and start working properly again.
To top today off, our power went out this morning at 3:30am, so of course my alarm clocks weren’t working. The only reason I got up was because Tim called at 7:15 which woke Greg up, who in turn woke me up. God this is a bad way to start a day. I have a headache already.

Busy weekend
I just got back from helping my brother move into college. Its scary to think that he has graduated high school and is moving on to college already. Maybe that just means I'm getting old, and need to get my ass out of college. But it was nice to check out the campus at EKU (even though OSU could swallow that college whole) and see where he will be for the next 4 years.
I did see my new favorite slogan while I was down there:
Save a horse, ride a cowgirl! ;-)

New Bush money
Want to own your own G. W. Bush $1 bill? Well they are currently available online at ebay. They are dedicated to Sept. 11th but yet I wonder who has the time and "printing press" to make these, and if the money is actually going to a purpose. Or if its just someone pocketing cash for dollar bill knock offs that they call collector items.

Never ending supply of clothes
Women can never again have an excuse to run out of outfits. They can now design their own clothes in a matter of minutes!
Evidentially a new popular item in California is liquid latex clothing. Basically you paint yourself with liquid latex to create your outfit, it dries in 10 minutes, and then you can wear it for hours on end. It is like wearing a big fashionable rubber glove. I still have several drawbacks and questions to this notion. It seems to be rather revealing and not necessarily very warm, which means I can see how the men would flock like sheep to women wearing this to the clubs. But as Dave puts it, “you have to be perky in all the right places to pull that off.” Which is a grand total of about 5% of the population.
I found a link on line with more information about this at liquidlatex.net, but its not really office appropriate, so be forewarned.

Useless sites
I was flipping through fark.com, and found these and thought they were worth sharing:
A new meaning to sign language. You've got to check this out.
A dictionary of slang words... why not, everything else is on the web
I love this picture! It sums everything up.

It's alive!
Baker 590 computer lab is officially up and running again. It's amazing to think that our busiest lab on campus was down for a week. Oh well, things are back to quasi normal status for now. We shall only see what the remainder of the week will bring.

My kind of meeting
You know, there is nothing like having a meeting for my scoreboard job at 7pm at Roosters for a brainstorming session, and then end up having several beers and being there until 9pm. Getting slightly toasted on at Tuesday night... not too horrible of a plan except for having a class the next morning

One of the greatest shows ever!
(said in the traditional voice of the comic book store owner from the Simpsons) That is all I have to say about last nights Dave Matthews Band concert at Polaris. The only down side was when they didn’t have the shirt I wanted in stock, but I'll just buy that on-line.

New template
I have set up a new template for my page. I'm putting in some final tweaks, but I think it is basically set up for now.

DMB Day
Woohoo! Tonight I'm going to see Dave Matthews Band in concert at Polaris. I'm pretty pumped about it. I've never seen Dave live and I've never actually gone to any shows at the Polaris Amphitheater either. Actually, I haven't been to a concert in a good while. So this should be lots of fun.

Sweltering heat
I think this weather is ridiculous. If I had wanted 90 degree weather and high humidity all the time, I live in Florida. I mean it is nice to have seasons, but this just makes it too hot to do anything out side. I went to the state fair on Friday and Saturday, and it was just to hot to really enjoy it. Then today we moved some of Tim’s furniture to his new apartment… talk about working up a sweat. But of course it will cool down over the next few days when I will be stuck inside at work all day. I guess that is what you can expect from the Midwest.

Sigh
Another not so exciting morning at work. We still don't have all of the electric problems fixed for the 5th floor. So in an effort to keep the users happy, we set up a temporary computer lab on the first floor of Baker. Its a tight fit for 15 computers, but its all we had to work with. All 3 of my bosses are gone, so I'm running the office for an hour, such excitement ... not really. At least today is only a half day for me. This afternoon I'm going to the Ohio State Fair with my mom and younger brother. It should provide for some entertainment and it means I get free food :-)

Clock
I had come across this clock a while ago, but just found it again, and thought I would share it. I would hate to have to keep this the time this way. But I can still use it to count down how long I have until I can go home.
